The Random Humans appear on the hip-hop scene with their release of a
self-titled three-song E.P. that gives a taste of what's to come.
Longview, Alberta native, Deception combines a steady flow to the
beats provided by the talented beatsmith, Bear.
Deception, with his quick wit and instinctual gift for
spitting rhymes, developed a love for expression through music after
seeing his first freestyle battle in 2002. Since cutting his teeth
writing and experimenting with over 100 songs, Deception has recorded
a full-length album, Under False Creek (2009), with Calgary producer,
Decline.
A Calgary native, the innovative beat machine, Bear
moved to Vancouver in 2006 to gain recording experience with Canadian
producer Rob "Chicken" Shallcross. Shallcross, a Juno award-winning
engineer, is known for his handy work in the metal community through
working with such acts as Gwar, Strapping Young Lad, Gene Hoglan, and
Meldrum. He was approached by Bear for the project. After hearing the
demos, Shallcross saw the limitless potential of these two hidden
gems and effected an immediate collaboration.
The first single, 'What You Do', featuring vocalist Kate Devlin, is
soulful and intimate. The Random Humans EP, to be released on Random
Human Records/Reversed Records, is a fresh step in Vancouver's
teeming underground music scene. Always striving to display a real
expression of a generation's musical influences, The Random Humans
have only begun to scratch the surface.
